drawingXpression’s Dr. Matt starts teaching April 1st (3:00 - 4:30pm Eastern Time)!!!
Join him for mindfulness, meditation, and art through Art Empowerment!
He invites you to enter a window between worlds where we create sacred time and space for ourselves, our emotions, and our feelings while using artwork to better understand ourselves, our experiences, and our worlds.
Art Empowerment isn’t therapy (art therapy, mental health therapy, or otherwise). While it has therapeutic value in making us feel better, Art Empowerment encompasses the idea that engaging in creative processes, such as visual arts, can enhance self-confidence, amplify our best within ourselves, and promote individual change, and wellbeing.
Art Empowerment is about the process, not the end product.
We look forward to seeing you in class.
Get to know a Snoopervisor!
Dr. Matt coined a term - snoopervisor - which is an animal that feels the need to insert itself into whatever it is you happen to be doing at the time to make sure you’re doing it right!
Meet Chonkers - (oversees Dr. Matt)
She’s an 11-year-old house cat and entrepreneur. Her hobbies include biscuit making, napping, and selling vintage collectibles on eBay.

Illustrated Microfiction
(Story by Parz, illustrated by Aleesha. Story prompts: Amphibian, Picked, Efficient)
She picked it up carefully. She had to – frogs are slippery.
Arthritic fingers held the quivering amphibian while cold eyes studied it. “No, not you”, she muttered unpleasantly, and dropped it back into the swamp water. Clearly annoyed, she wondered where he was hiding this time.
She wasn’t evil, just an efficient problem-solver. Mosquitoes that bite? People who annoy? Both solved by turning annoying people into mosquito-eating frogs! Her husband, for instance... But she needed him to fix the leaky roof. So she needed to change him back. Again. Reluctantly.
She spied another frog. She picked it up carefully.
(Parz teaches creative writing every other week. Consider giving his class a try - Live or Recorded!)
Did You Know That…?
…Neuroscience Tells Us How to Enter a Flow State
Have you ever felt a state of mind where the world seems to fall away and you just get into the zone? That feeling is what is called the “Flow State” and neuroscience researchers recently found a couple of things associated with that state of mind:
an increase in activity associated with the endeavour
a decrease in activity associated with executive control
What that means for creatives is this - once you’ve learned and practiced the techniques you want to learn, let yourself go and create. You’ll be amazed at what you can do and how enjoyable it is!
