Wondering what dX Live Students Have Been Learning Lately?
Then cast your eyes on these works of art:
The Adventures of Danger Girl (and her trusty sidekick, The Permissive Creative)
This episode’s adventure begins inside the outdoor art studio of Aleesha S. As she holds up her tangle work in progress, she sees an opportunity to draw a snail crawling along a line. But, she tells herself, I can’t! I don’t know how to draw one!
It’s at times like these, when Aleesha S insists she can’t do something artistically, that her alter-ego, Danger Girl (in full hero pose, complete with purple mask, body suit, and tights, all with DG bejeweled embossing) arrives on the scene to blast through creative blockades! Be brave! Be bold! Be dangerous! Draw the snail!
But what if I ruin the piece? Aleesha’s response echoes the pangs of all artists faced with this dilema.
It’s only paper! And you’ll make something even more amazing next time!
In that moment of realization, daring and inspiration shine forth from Aleesha’s eyes. You’re right, Danger Girl! Give me my pen!
As this episode comes to a close with Aleesha drawing snails into her tangles, Danger Girl looks into the camera. When you’re given the opportunity to try something new - seize it! Be brave! Be bold! Be dangerous!
Tune in next time when Parz S says But who would believe dogs can dance Flamenco?

Get to know a Snoopervisor!
Dr. Matt coined a term - snoopervisor - which is an animal that feels the need to insert itself into whatever it is you happen to be doing at the time to make sure you’re doing it right!
Meet Caedra (aka Roarie, aka Royster) - (oversees Aleesha & Parz)
Maine Coone cats are known for their vocalizations. And Caedra, aka Roarie, aka Royster, is a master vocalizer. She can out-chirp, out-yip, and out-I-have-no-idea-how-to-explain-whatever-that-just-was any other cat inside or outside the house. And yes, she can roar. Or at least she thinks she can!
When she’s not expanding her sound repertoire, you can usually find her expanding the known things that can be chewed on. Like plant shelves. And the corners of Aleesha’s computer. And clothing hooks. I’ll refrain from naming things she hasn’t chewed on yet - she’s smart, she can read, and is easily inspired to try new things.
Such is her dedication and devotion, she inspires her fellow felines to follow in her footsteps… chew steps… mastications… Nothing is safe.

Frogs in the Wild West
Story by Parz, Illustration by Aleesha
Frogs didn’t do well in the Rootin’ Tootin’ Gun-Shootin’ Wild West.
For one - their gun belts never stayed on - they just slid off their bodies. It didn’t help that Nature refused to give them belt-holding hips in the first place.
For two - saloons didn’t serve pond water. Frogs can’t drink whisky - too dehydrating.
And three - they couldn’t bring themselves to wear denim. Washed and faded blue clashed with their greenish-brown skin. Frogs have fashion sense, after all.
And so frogs tended to move to refined Europe. Although there was that unfortunate French habit that made Paris rather unenticing. But Nice was nice.
Did You Know…?
…Art Radically Improves Mental and Physical Health
Have you ever had a physician prescribe a visit to an art gallery? Or to direct you to immerse yourself in music? Or to pick up a pen and write? According to a new article in CNN, doctors worldwide are beginning to understand just how necessary art is to live a healthy lifestyle and how important they can be as a medical intervention.
This quote from the article sums it up nicely:
Research shows that art experiences, whether as a maker or a beholder, transform our biology by rewiring our brains and triggering the release of neurochemicals, hormones and endorphins.
Want to live a healthier, happier life? Make the creating and enjoying of art a part of yours!
